Phoca Gallery Plugin does not work in module

Post by zocha »

Hello,

I use com_phocagallery_v2.1.0_RC with plg_phocagallery_v2.1.0 on Joomla 1.5.7. On Phoca Gallery Plugin - Switch (Swap) Image site I've found plugin code in two parts. I've put one of them into one article and the other into second article. Then I've put the second article (with category view) into module with mod_newsflash. The first article with plugin works just fine but instead of table with thumbnails in the module I've got plugin code visible. Is it possible to make it work? I just need to have full image in main content pane but thumbnails in other place (module).

Thanks in advance,

Hi,

I wonder seriously if it's possible to have some plugin code executed when an article is displayed in the newsflash module. Have you tried this with other plugins?

Hi,

I haven't. I've found on Joomla! Discusion Forums, than that works in J1.0 but probably not in 1.5. :(

So if you're right, is there any chance to have module only with chosen category thumbnails? I haven't found such a module. Best for me would be module (or 3 separate modules: Categories, Images and Switch Image) with settings exactly like in Displaying Phoca Gallery Plugin document.

Then I could put parts of gallery anywhere on my page.

Hi,

As far as I know there isn't such a module available out of the box. You could take a look at the Random Image Module and see whether you could modify it to your needs. I think it needs some hacking, but it might be possible.

Good luck!

Hi,

Thank you for your help Carolien.

I've got Random Image Module and it looks optimistic - theoretically I should only change onhoover or/and onclick methods (if I understand it correctly). But I'm scared of the number of variables in the code - I feel lost. :(

Thanks again,

Hello,

I've managed to do it! :D

I'm attaching the modified file mod_phocagallery_random_image.php. Maybe somebody else could use it. If you want, you could also include it on your page as a separate module. I've left changed values in CSS code (client wanted very small thumbnails with very thin frame).

Usage:
  • Put PhocaGallery plugin into article. Set it as "Switch Image".
  • Put modified mod_phocagallery_random_image module anywhere on your page
  • Now on hoovering over thumbnail in module, the plugin content should change.
Example (the page I've changed it for): OKNOpleX
