Can not update from 2.1.0 Beta to 3.1.9

Post by woodyf4u »

Hi,
I have tried many times to update Phoca Download 2.1.0 Beta to 3.1.9.
The update is running and at the end it says everything is done and ready.
But then, Joomla says thgere is a new update available.
And that is agian 2.1.0 Beta to 3.1.9

So I downloaded 3.1.9 from yjhe Downloads page of Phoca.cz and tried to install it over the existing Phoca Download.
But still the same issue.

What can I do to a correct update to 3.1.9?

Hi,
It's not as easy as it looks. I'm not even sure if beta versions can be updated at all (only Jan know that). If it does work, you first have to upgrade to the last 2 version and then migrate to J3.

Kind regards,
Benno

Hi, sorry for the misunderstanding.
It is not the version of Joomla.
But is the version of Phoca Dowbload.
This is what I see in the backend:

After updating Phoca Download, I see this

But when I check for new updates, the message of the first screenshot apears.
So it seems nothing is updated very well.

Hi, as Benno wrote, when you want to update Phoca Download for Joomla! 2.5 to Phoca Download for version 3, the best method is to do a migration. Even the version for Joomla 2.5 is installed on Joomla! 3, the newest does not have any instruction to update such obsolete version. It just have instruction for versions started at 3.0.0.

So if there is newest version => 3.1.9 - in only includes update instructions for version 3.0.0 and newer, no information for versions lower than 3.0.0. So this is why migrate must be done.

Hi Jan,
Unfortunually both of you didn't looked wel to my screenshots.
As you can see my website is Joomla 3 already.
It is Joomla 3.9.8 at the moment.

A couple of weeks/months ago I received a message in my Joomla back-end to update Phoca Download 2.1.0 Beta to Phoca Download 3.1.9 (see my post 8 jun 2019 in this topic).
Everytime a run that update Phoca Download is 3.1.9
So it seems the back-end is updates for Phoca Download.
But how can I stop the update message about the update from Beta to stable?
Do U have to change the update URL for Phoca in Joomla?

Hi,

just an idea: Check: Extension > Manage > Manage. Maybe you see the new one and the old one. Would be fine, to get possibility to uninstall the "installed old one". Probeer het maar :-)

Kind regards

Thanks Christine,
I've tried your suggestion.
I still don't know why but that broke my site.

After a couple of hours I decided to remove everything of Phoca Download in Joomla, files, folders and database.
Now I have reinstalled and configured a fresh clean Phoca Download.
Not the best solution but is is fine for now.
