White Box Around Image

Hello - I've read, searched and looked for hours and cannot seem to make the following work, so I'm posting in hopes that someone can help me. How do I either remove or resize the white box that displays around the image to correspond closer to the image size. I guess it's the category box because the detail box is fine.

Hi, which white box you mean. If this should be a white background under image, try to see this:

Thanks for your reply. What has me stumped is that if the image size is 250 x 250. The white box resizes the image to 250 x 187 and the white background image fills the rest. The module width is set to 525 to keep the image positioned left. What I am trying to do is have an small white background image around the image - ie - if the image size is 250x250, the background image is 275x275. I've read the forum and documentation and can't seem to figure out what settings need to be adjusted (component & module).
Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, you should use cropping images parameter (is set as default for medium thumbnails) to get the same size and width, can I see the site to know what you exactly mean?

Yes, it is www.nnyorker.com - the image mod is published to the top left mod plus another one in the top right.
