J1.5 -> 3.0 Download migration - missing "Sections"

I have looked and searched the forum for "3.0 download sections" and this is only result that seems on-topic that results:

I am using Phoca Download Version 3.0.0 Beta with Joomla 3.0.3 and ... are showing up in the files section to show up in the download section.

but when I try to follow link it says the post does not exist.

I am having same/similar problem.

I migrated a site from J1.5 -> 3.0 and followed the instructions here:

which was very helpful. It says to not move the settings or sections, as "such tables are not more used in Joomla! 1.7".

so how to handle this? the site I'm moving previously had two sections, now everything is there, but just lumped together.

any advice is appreciated. also, maybe an faq on this or add to migration doc in future?

I hadn't used phocadownload personally before so this was a pretty easy fix, although could be made much easier with a "batch" button.

I just made new categories for the old sections then moved the categories under them.

this will mess up any section listing URLs you had, so be sure to create some 301's.

also, this is the styling I adjusted to emulate the old style of the section boxes that was using images:

Hi, for now there is no guide how to migrate to 3.0 - first I need to finish the components for Joomla! 3 so then I can write a guide for migrate.
