Hi, access rights means you can access the file, so this is all ok in access area.

But you are writing about displaying rights for inaccessible files. There is no such right for every user, only for registered.

It means:

:: Access right (file can be accessed, download) - you can select user who will have right to access/download the file

::Displaying inaccessible file - this can be set only for public vs. registered - public can see files assiged to registered only in case, this is set to yes, public cannot see files asigned to registered in case, this is set to no ... but there is no difference for registered users. Such needs to be customized in the code.

Hi Jan,

okay, I see where the problem is located. But it absolutely makes no sense to show categories titles to someone, who isn’t allowed to download the included files.

This should be fixed by the developer. Maybe by adding an additional preference option.

Best wishes,

Hello all
I agree with keywerks. It maybe works as designed but it does not make a lot of sense :-/

Hi,
okay, I see where the problem is located. But it absolutely makes no sense to show categories titles to someone, who isn’t allowed to download the included files.
I didn't write about categories title, but about files which are not downloadable for public.

This feature was asked by many site owners who giving files to download. The idea of this (sense):

There are files for public and registered on a download page. And files for public are displayed for all, the same files for registered. But if you click on such file (which can be downloaded by registered only) you will be redirected to login/register page.

The sense is, to show public users, there are such and such files and these files are downloadable for registered only, so public user needs to register to get such files. So the sense is to display public users files so they will be motivated to register/login on the site to get these files.

I don't use such feature but this feature was asked by many website administrators and is used by them a lot. So I think displaying not accessible file for public and link to login/register page if user is not able to download it, makes sense.

Anyway it is just a parameter, it does not need to be used and I am not here to say, something is right and something not, for many users this makes sense, for someone not, I only explained why this work as it works and why the feature is there.

Of course the extension cannot fit all needs of all users, but it can be customized as it is open.

Hi there,
is there any possibility to find a workaround to this issue in a similar way to this other thread?
