Buttons cover description

When I click on the thumnails to open the slideshow, it doesn't matter what box I have them pop up in, the navigation buttons always ends up covering the description. Is there a way to increase the height of the description box, or is there some code I can edit to create a break before where the buttons appear? I've looked every where and have not found a setting to fix this, nor have I found other people asking this question. Thanks for your help.
